History

layout

The Queen City HiRailers succeeds the original Lionel Operating Train Society (or L.O.T.S.) modular layout club and the successor club the "Cincinnati Modular Train Group" (CMTG) which appeared at many shows in the Cincinnati area over fifteen years from 1990 through 2005.

We purchased the old layout from the CMTG on January 1, 2006. We renamed our new club to the "Queen City HiRailers". Our goal was to build a new layout using modules built to the Independent HiRailer Standards.

By October, 2006 we started to build modules with 3 track mains and created enlarged layouts for shows using modules of the old layout and our new modules On November 21, 2008 we obtained our first goal; which was to build a three track main line layout for public view. This was first shown at Green Township Senior Center.

module

We continue to build and add to the layout size as members make their own modules. We have created written module specifications which enable our modules to connect to other clubs’ modules that are built in accordance with the Independent HiRailers Standards Members also make and bring to shows 18" by 48" scenic layovers to place on blank modules.
